The Epling Brothers
The six sons of Paris Epling and Emma Jane Price. My best
guess is it was taken about 1900, after they had moved to Kansas. They are,
from left to right, Lester Earl Epling (my grandfather), Archie Lamont
Epling, William Franklin Epling (top), Charles Arthur Glenwood Epling,
Dwight Cecil Epling and James Leroy Epling. Lester and James Leroy were both
born in Auburn, Sangamon Co., Ill., but the rest were born in or around
Muscatoh, Ks.
My great grandparents, Paris Epling and Emma Jane Price were married in
Auburn in Sangamon Co. in 1875. They continued to live there somewhere
between 9 and 12 years before moving to Kansas. Several of Paris's brothers
and sisters also lived in Sangamon Co. and are mentioned in one of the
Sangamon Co. Histories.
The Epling Sisters
Laura Grace Epling (standing) and Maude Ethel Epling.
Maude was born in Auburn and Grace was born in Muscotah, Ks. Again, this is
ca.1900.
"The Epling House that Paris built in Illinois, 1884"
I'd love to know if this house is still standing and/or where it was located.
Emma Jane [Price] Epling and her sister, Laura Mae Price,
who married John R. Pulliam December 24, 1896 in Sangamon Co., Ill. Probably
taken in the 1890's. Not very good but it's the only picture I have of my
great-grandmother.
I don't have a picture of their other daughter, Hessie May Epling, who was
also born in Sangamon Co., or of Paris Epling himself.
